Taking a break from our usual style post to share Sparkle’s birthday picnic. She received so much love, online and offline it was mind-blowing. Thank you to everyone who took the time out to wish her a happy birthday. We shared a thank you video on her instagram account!
As always with birthday parties, there is a ton of things left over, whether it’s tableware, decor, or cake or more cake. Just always something you are trying to give away. Although, we sent cake home with the folks who dropped by the house after the party, we had a ton of balloons and bubble left over. Initially, I kept it the side, planned to add it to my party box, but something in my spirit said, just take it to the park and let Sparkle give it away to the kids she would meet. When it told her my idea, she was not having it!
Stephen and I are constantly and consistently, trying to teach her the meaning of giving. In kids church, they actually encourage the parents to give the kids their own offering and tithes money. They have worship time, and they line the kids up to drop their money in the baskets. Both, SJ and Sparkle, have memorized 2 Corinthians 9:6-7, God Loves A Cheerful Giver, thanks to kids church. While they have helped us plant the seed of giving coins, we want to teach them giving goes way beyond money, it can be your time, talents & gifts, and even your resources. After a sit down and explaining all of that in toddler lingo, she understood it better and was ready.
So thankful I followed my heart. It was a joy to watch her and SJ pass out balloons and/or bubbles to the kids. We met so many different families, exchanged names with them and all of them wished her a very happy birthday. Most of them were in awe of our #spreadbirthdaylove project. One mom stated she was going to do this activity during the summer. How awesome is that?
Special thank you to Alex +Judy, Elana + Evan, Brooke + Ayla + Reed who allowed us to photograph them.
Adorable! I love that you’re encouraging g Summer to be a cheerful giver. Happy 3rd birthday princess!
I’m so glad parents like you are around, teaching their children to be givers rather than receive. What a kind and loving park party, great parenting skills????.
